MORE or less 300 practical shooters were expected to sign for a national shooting competition in Iloilo City.
The event kicked off Apr 20, 2017 and will run until Apr 24, at the Camp Teofolo Delgado Firing Range of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) headquarters in Camp Delgado, Iloilo City.
Hundreds of shooters from all over the country are expected to see action in the Level III IPSC/PPSA (Philippine Practical Shooting Association) Sanctioned Match.
Participants from Hong Kong and Australia will also join.
Larry Borro, PPSA Area 7 Director – Visayas, said the event will also help select members of the national shooting team.
For the competition’s first day, range officers will showcase their shooting skills.
A press conference was held before the match opening.
In attendance were Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, PRO-6 director; Borro, Nelson Uygongco of the PPSA organizing committee, and Rudy Marcelo of the Range Officer National Institute.
In its website, PPSA prides that practical shooting is the fastest growing shooting sport in the world to date.
“Combining the elements of Speed, Power, and Accuracy, it is a venue that seeks to develop and test an individual’s shooting skills in a controlled sporting environment.”
Meanwhile, PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is expected to arrive today, Apr 21, in Iloilo City to lead the unveiling of the Gratitude Wall at the Camp Delgado Firing Range.
