CERES Negros Football Club chairman Leo Rey Yanson encouraged Ilonggos, especially football fans, to support the upcoming Association Football Federation (AFC) Cup qualifying round to be held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in March 2017.
“We are intensifying our preparations in anticipation for this years’ AFC Cup qualifying round. The club has started their training and is 100 percent committed to rise up to the occasion and make our beloved province proud,” Yanson added.
Last year, Ceres fans enjoyed games against teams from Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Singapore in the group stage of the AFC Cup which was also held at Panaad.
Ceres FC will face Tampines Rovers or Geylang International from Singapore on March 7, and Felda United of Malaysia on March 15.
On April 19, the team will play either TNT Hanoi or SHB Da Nang from Vietnam.
If they qualify, the team will earn a slot for the Round 16, making Ceres Negros the first Filipino football team to do so.
Yanson said the clubs’ football season continued in the United Football League (UFL) in Manila and they’re looking forward to retaining the title they won two years ago.
“We ranked second overall, which again gave us the privilege to bring back to our beloved province three upcoming international games,” Yanson added.
