TE Ceres-Negros FC is in Singapore to play for three tune-up games in preparation for the 2017 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Group Stage.
Ceres is set to face either SHB Ang FC or HàNi T&T FC, both of Vietnam, on Feb. 21 depending on the result of the 2017 AFC Champions League qualifying play-off.
But before the actual competition, they will play against Home United FC on Feb. 4; Singapore’s U23 squad on Feb. 6; and current S League champions Albirex Niigata Singapore FC on Feb. 8.
The team is prepared for the friendlies as it is reinforced by Filipino-foreign players including midfielder Jason de Jong.
“I will bring toughness and physical game to the club. We will do our best to make the Negrense fans proud,” de Jong said.
Ceres FC also confirmed the signing of midfielder Lain Ramsay, who previously played for Adelaide United and Melbourne City FC.
According to Ceres FC Chairman Leo Rey Yanson, the team underwent rigid training in order to match the competitiveness of different clubs.
“This will be a tough battle for us but given the opportunity to represent the country is a rare moment. We need to make most of it. Winning is always what we aim,” shared Yanson.
