CERES-NEGROS FC has completed its lineup with new recruits three days before they leave to play their first international match in the 2018 AFC Champions League qualifiers in Myanmar.
The Bacolod City-based team acquired Mike Rigoberto Ott, Manny Ott’s younger brother.
The younger Ott suited up for the national men’s team and scored 2 goals in 12 appearances. He last played for the Angthong Football Club in Thai League 2, booking 7 goals in 21 outings.
The 22-year-old Fil-German also reinforced FC Nürnberg II in Germany from 2014-2017 scoring 8 goals in 52 appearances, and TSV 1860 Munich II from 2012-2014 with 12 goals in 25 games.
Team Ceres-Negros FC believes that Ott is a huge addition to their squad because of his quickness and ability to pass through defenders.
Earlier, Ceres FC signed veteran Spanish goalkeeper Antonio “Toni” Doblas who will replace Roland Muller while defenders Sean Patrick Kane and Amani Aguinaldo are expected to fortify the club’s backline.
While Aguinaldo is still nursing from a knee injury, the club has assured him of advanced medical treatment for his fast recovery.
Meanwhile, Japanese striker Takumi Uesato, who scored 15 goals for JPV Marikina, is expected to fortify Bienvenido Marañón’s upfront. He will also fill up the space left by Fernando Rodriguez.
Former Ceres-Negros FC midfielder Iain Ramsay left the team and is set to sign up for Malaysia Premier League second tier Felda United this week.
This was confirmed by Felda United media officer Sam Festo, adding that the Ramsay has arrived in Malaysia to train with his new team.
Ramsay’s decision was influenced by some of his compatriots playing in the Malaysian League such as Brendan Gan in Perak and Matthew Davies in Pahang.
On Jan 16, Ceres FC will challenge Myanmar’s Shan United at the Thuwunna Stadium for the 2018 AFC Champions League qualifiers.
