THE Elite 60 Development Camp is inviting Ilonggo young cagers (U16 and U18) to the regional tryout for Visayas at Sacred Heart School in Mandaue, Cebu on April 22, 2017.
The country’s best young basketball players are expected to come together and showcase their skills in a basketball tryout which is consistent with the Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas (SBP) and MVP Sports Foundation’s mission of “helping both grassroots development and elite programs of eight national sports association.”
The camp has two phases – a two-day Regional Talent Identification Camp (TIC) with a coaching clinic in regional camps; and a National Elite 60 Development Camp (EDC) where the top 60 players will join an in-house camp for four days.
Aimed at identifying, developing, and preparing dribblers in bigger tournaments, the event also serves as a process to identify future players for the National Youth (U18 and Cadet) teams.
Aside from Visayas, two other regional tryouts will be mounted in the country. The regional camp in Mindanao will be hosted at Xavier University Cagayan De Oro on April 28-30 while regional tryout for Luzon will take place at San Beda College Mendiola on May 6. The Elite 60 Development Camp is set to kick off at the Colegio San Agustin on May 18-21.
After all the regional tryouts, the top 30 players from four areas will be invited to the National Elite 60 Camp – 10 from Visayas, 10 from Mindanao, 5 from South Luzon and, 5 from North Luzon.
The top 30 players from National Capital Region (NCR) will complete with 60 regional cagers in the in-house camp. The selected players will be trained by top-notch foreign and local coaches and they will be challenged in the All-star games for each division.
Elite 60 Camp in Manila will be facilitated by an international guest coach and from morning to night, the players will be put through rigorous drills, treated to top coaches’ lectures, and compete in intense games.
