BAGO CITY survived a last minute scare from University of St. La Salle Bacolod, 2-2, to snatch the Negros First NOFA Youth Football Provincial Championship 2018 title at the Ceres North Football Field in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Oct. 8.
Most valuable player Jerome Aligora led the team.
Best defender Christian Suarez and best goalkeeper Justin Villan played well in the back line to deny the attempts of the La Sallian side.
Meanwhile, USLS’ Joshua Limco and Luis Henares were named best striker and best midfielder, respectively.
Meanwhile, Villa Angela FC outpointed Sagay City FC, 5-3, in the penalty shootout following a 2-all draw in the regulation period.
According to NOFA President Ricky Yanson, he’s happy to partner with the Negros First Sports Program of Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr. and Provincial Sports Coordinator Angel Verdeflor.
He said the program helped NOFA in promoting football in the province.
“It’s a great learning process to have this kind of tournament with every LGU’s involvement in hosting and showcasing their home grown talents. We’re looking forward to see more teams competing in such events,” he added.
