BACOLOD CITY will host the Tiger Black BRAWL at the SMX Convention Center featuring clashes between Philippines and Brazil on Jan. 19, 2019.
Philippines will defend its home turf against Brazil as Miguel Mosquera of Bacolod City, takes on Brazilian Afonso “Cego” Celso Jr. of Rio de Janiero for the lightweight division’s main event.
With five wins and three losses, the 33-year-old Mosquera will suit up for the 6100 Martial Art and Fitness (Bacolod).
A purple belt holder in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and a Pan Asia Jiu Jitsu Tournament gold medalist, Mosquera won most of his fights via submission.
He started his MMA career with BRAWL and went on to fight for PXC and URCC, beating the likes of practicing dentist and Shotokan karateka Angelito “The Saint” Manguray of AXC team (Davao) Universal Reality Combat Championships (URCC5) and World Kickboxing Federation K1 super welterweight champion Steve Grandeza of Davao (Pacific Xtreme Combat 35).
Mosquera also traded blows with former URCC champion Red Romero of DEFTAC (URCC 28) and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Rolando Dy (PXC 51).
Meanwhile, Celso, 38, will represent the Catalan Fighting System. He is a 2nd degree black belt in Luta Livre (Portuguese for “freestyle wrestling”) and a black belt in Muay Thai.
He started his career in Brazil and later found his way to the Philippines, where he competed in the URCC.
Aside from Celso, another foreign fighter featured in the Tiger Black BRAWL is 23-year-old Marco Birch of Denmark who will face Intoy “Pretty Boy” Paltingca in the 160 lb. division.
Birch (5-1), is now based in Boracay as part of a group of fighters who live and train at Legacy Gym Boracay. He has a solid kickboxing background and continuously improving his ground game.
Birch has racked up no less than four amateur victories in Battle of Copenhagen, ICE FC 15, Golden Ticket Fight Promotions, and Odense Fight Night 5.
On the other hand, the undefeated Paltingca (4-0) of native of Dumaguete City will represent Clint Beario MMA. He has shown potential with his strong wrestling skills and a striking style that fits his long physique.
The Tiger Black BRAWL will feature a total of 10 pro and semi-pro MMA matches which will be contested by fighters from Bacolod, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo and Victorias representing 11 gyms and training centers.
