Another Negrense boxer will see action for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) World Featherweight Championship at Tucson in Arizona, USA on Sept. 22, 2017.
Undefeated Bacolod City fighter Genesis “Azukal” Servania will clash against Mexican Oscar Valdez, who is also enjoying an unblemished record.
Servania has 29 wins and 12 knockouts while Valdez has 22 wins including 19 knockouts.
The pride of Negros Occidental is ranked No. 15 in the WBO featherweight division which is ruled by Valdez.
Servania is also ranked No.4 in the WBO junior featherweight dominated by undefeated American champion Jessie Magdaleno (25-0 with 18 KOs) and No. 9 in the IBF which is topped by Japanese Yukinori Oguni (19-1 with 7KOs).
According to Servania, he’s excited to fight against Valdez as they are both undefeated in the tournament.
“I think this fight is for me and to be in a world title match is already a dream come true for me,” he added.
Currently, Servania is undergoing rigid training at Kashimi boxing gym in Japan under the guidance of fellow Bacolodnon boxer-turned coach Ecoh Melligen.
Servania was discovered after an impressive victory against fellow Filipino compatriot Ralph Jhon Lulu in April wherein he pocketed the WBO regional crown.
