NEGRENSE sluggers who represented the Philippine softball team fell short of the crown in the 2017 Senior League Softball World Series after losing to host Delaware-District 3, 4-0, at the Bruce Layton Field in Lower Sussex, Delaware in the United States, Aug. 7.
The Bacolod City-based squad which carried the Asia-Pacific Region banner settled for the silver medal after the lone loss in the entirety of the league.
Delaware-District exacted revenge on the Pinay batters who defeated them in the elimination phase, 1-0.
In the finals, the Philippines was unable to score while the host scored two innings, including a home run in the sixth by Jakayla Sample.
Korrin Farris and Kylie Kruger added three runs to seal the win and the crown.
After the second place finish in the senior’s division, the country will also try their luck in another international match.
The Philippine Little League softball team, bannered by the Education and Training Center School III, will compete in Portland, Oregon for the Little League Softball World Series, which started yesterday until Aug. 16.
