TAEKWONDO jins from Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI) under Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym took home 20 gold, 2 silver and 2 wo bronze medals in the 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Association (ISSA) held at the AdI covered gym on Oct. 8.
Trained by coach Christer John Gersanib, the team ruled the elementary Poomsae events.
In elementary boys’ Poomsae, Enzo Lucio Cape and Clyde Anthony Chua won the gold medals in the Individual A and B, respectively. The duo also partnered with Josh Karl Macahilig and salvaged another gold medal in the team Poomsae.
In elementary boys’ Kyorugi, the gold medalists were Von Escabilla, Enzoio Cape, and Macahilig. Chua, on the other hand, snatched the lone silver medal.
Samantha Gayle Go and Ameila Carla Victoria ruled the Individual Poomsae A and B, respectively. Go and Victoria also teamed up with Sofia Jessie Uy to pocket the gold medal in elementary girls’ team Poomsae.
In the elementary Mixed Poomsae, Victoria and Chua got the gold medal. In Kyorugi, the team swept the gold medals, courtesy of Andria Margaret Palabrica, Uy, Go, Victoria, and Sophia Grace Go.
Meanwhile, the secondary jins also clinched four gold medals in Poomsae. Xyrus Andrei Desierto won the gold in Individual A and Mixed Pair Poomsae while Conrad Joseph Pido also received the gold in Individual B and Team Poomsae.
In Kyorugi, Desierto and Pido claimed one gold each while Jose Enrico Chan took one bronze. In secondary girls’ Poomsae, Ma. Wilmena Popelo won the gold in Mixed Pair Poomsae and silver in Kyorugi.
MVP jins from PAREF-Westbridge School also bagged medals through Andrei Pido (silver in Kyorugi) and Owen Rivera (bronze in Kyorugi).
