THE Philippines got another Asian Games bronze in the pencak silat category, courtesy of Aklan native Cherry Mae Regalado.
Regalado collected 444 points in the women’s singles pencak on Monday in Jakarta, Indonesia.
She finished behind gold medalist Puspa Arumsari of Indonesia with 467 points and silver finisher Yazid Nurzuhairah Mohammad of Singapore with 445 points.
Regalado also starred in various local and national competitions.
She is the third bronze medalist from Western Visayas after Dines Dumaan and Jefferson Rey Loon of Capiz also in pencak silat.
Meanwhile, Negros fighter Rogen Ladon broke the country’s losing streak in boxing after knocking down Prem Chaudhury of Nepal in the men’s lightweight category round of 32.
The 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympian and Bago City native pulled off a unanimous decision victory.
Rio Olympian and Cebuana Mary Joy Tabal lost her Asian Games campaign after she settled for 11th place in the women’s marathon while Janry Ubas ranked 16th in the men’s long jump category.
