THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Region 6 will host the SBP U18 3×3 Regional Finals at Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) Main Campus covered court on Apr. 14-15, 2018.
A total of 48 teams around the region will battle it out for the coveted victory and to book the ticket for the national finals.
In the girls’ division, the participating teams are Central Philippine University (CPU) A and B, Iloilo City National High School (ICNHS) A and B, Pototan A and B, Pavia, Tigbauan, Calinog, Passi, Antique A and B, Guimaras A and B, Guimaras A and B, Cabatuan, and West Visayas State University (WVSU).
A total of 32 teams will also square off in the boys’ category – Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI), CPU A and B, Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) A and B, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU), University of San Agustin (USA) A and B, Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) A and B, St. John’s Institute (SJI), Mandurriao NHS, Jalandoni Memorial NHS, Pavia NHS, Alimodian, Tigbauan, Passi City A and B, Pototan Integros, Calinog, CenterPhil A and B, Antique A and B, Guimaras A and B, Balasan, Sta. Clarita International School (SCIS) A and B, PAREF-Westbridge, WVSU, and Cabatuan.
The tournament will be led by SBP-6 Regional Director Robert Uy.
A series of activities were mounted in preparation for the games, including the Referees Accreditation and Licensing at the HSCI Auditorium on April 6-8.
On April 27-28, Gilas coach Jong Uichico and 3 assistant FIBA trained coaches will hold an SBP coaches’ clinic at the Hua Siong-Ledesco campus gym.
The annual event aims to promote 3×3 tournament nationwide. To recall, Region 6 is the defending national champions both for boys’ and girls’ divisions.
To improve officiating in the region, SBP-6 is bringing FIBA Commissioner Hector Villanueva and International Referee Francisco Olivar to conduct a three-day training of referees in the region.
