AN ILONGGO football star led Stallion Laguna past Ilocos United, 5-0, in Biñan, Laguna last Sept. 12 to reach the final four of the 2017 Philippine Football League.

Jan Jesus Melliza, a native of LaPaz, Iloilo City, scored four goals for Stallion to clinch one of the quarterfinal slots.

With an aggregate point of 26 points, Stallion notched 7 wins, 8 losses and 5 draws in the tournament.

Melliza found the back goal at the 14th minute mark of the game before adding another goal just before the halftime break to establish a relatively comfortable 2-0 lead.

Stallion striker Fitch Arboleda stretched the lead to 3-0 after a close-range shot.

Melliza was in a zone that he scored back-to-back goals in a span of one minute just before the final whistle.

Before playing for Stallion Laguna, Melliza also played for the Far Eastern University (FEU).
