SOLANE and Toto Tia Ten Trucking torched their respective opponents on Jan. 9, 2018 to notch their third straight win in the ongoing 1st Ganzon Cup Basketball Championship at the Brgy. Katilingban covered gym in Molo, Iloilo City.
Team Solane, one of the top finishers during the 2015 Dinagyang Elite Basketball tournament, survived the gritty Jav’s Calibration, 76-70, on Tuesday.
Armar Talimay went berserk in the dying minutes of the final canto to lead Solane with 17 points.
“Each of us has a role in the team. In my case, I just focused and perform well for my team everytime I’m inside the court. As for the upcoming games, I think our continuous practice with the team will help us build chemistry and great executions during playing time,” said Talamay.
Talamay also carried his team to its first victory against University of San Agustin (USA) – Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA), 92-69, before drubbing J. Cordon Construction, 111-85.
Meanwhile, Toto Tia Ten Trucking also captured their third straight win at the expense of J. Cordon Construction, 97-85.
The John Guanco-mentored Toto Tia was led by Delbert Toreno who finished with 19 points.
Both Solane and Toto Tia lead the tournament with identical 3-0 win-loss cards.
As of today, the undefeated Solane and Toto TiaTen share the top spot with 3 wins already.
- Cordon Construction and Jav’s Calibration are in second place with 1 win and two losses each.
USA-ILOPRISAA and Star V.A. Sports Asialink are still winless in the tournament after two games.
In today’s games, USA-ILOPRISAA and Star V.A. Sports Asialink will try to pull off a win as they face each other in the first match at 5:30 p.m.
The second match will pit J. Cordon Construction against Jav’s Calibration at 7 p.m.
The tournament is organized by the Bigshots Sports of Iloilo led by chairman Rudolph Jeffrey Ganzon and commissioner Ramon “June2” Sia.
