1ST BGA. MARIANING FUTSAL CUP: CPU pocket crown in U-15 boys

CENTRAL Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions brought home the title in the U-15 Boys of the recently-concluded 1st Bga. Marianing Cup Futsal Competition after demolishing St. Paul School-Barotac Nuevo (SPS-BN), 6-3, at the Iloilo National High School (INHS) gym on Oct. 16, 2017.

The Centralians were led by former U-15 national team member James Tuazon who was also hailed as the league’s best scorer.

Tuazon also fuelled CPU’s victory in the semifinals after eliminating Guimbal FC, 13-2.

Guimbal FC and INHS team ranked third and fourth, respectively.

Meanwhile, SPS-BN lady booters snatched the crown in the U-18 girls by defeating compatriots from Barotac Nuevo National Comprehensive High School (BNNCHS), 2-1.

SPS-BN striker Andrea Kate Mingoy was named best scorer of the tournament. Tigbauan FC settled for third place after crushing Calinog FC, 4-0.

In the U-18 boys’ division, Cabataun FC pulled the rug under INHS footballers thanks to the heroics of best scorer Christian Talamor.

A total of 27 teams from the province and city of Iloilo competed in the two-day event organized by the Futsal Association of Region 6 and sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation.
