A TOTAL of 18 football teams across the country will see action in the 3rd Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) Under-13 Invitational Cup at Sta. Maria Football Field in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on May 1-5, 2018.
The Luzon-based teams include 07 Eagles, Blue Brothers, Malaya FC, One La Salle and Southridge.
Visayas will field eight teams – Don Bosco Cebu FC and Springdale Titans of Cebu, Barotac Nuevo Football Club and LGU Barotac Nuevo from Iloilo, North Road Guesthouse – Bacong FC and Negros Oriental – Siquijor Regional Football Association from Negros Oriental, and 2 teams from host NOFA
Mindanao will be represented by Davao Grassroots Champions League (Davao del Sur), Golden Harvest (Bukidnon/Misamis Oriental), Mt. Apo Regional Football Association (North Cotabato), Notre Dame of Tacurong College (Maguindanao) and ZANDIFA (Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog City).
The games are organized by NOFA and Dynamic Football League (DFL) to provide young players with the opportunity to develop their skills.
According to NOFA Cup chairman Rev. Fr. Ember Tiangson, the absence of a grassroots football program in the country will result in the scarcity of talents for future national teams, hence, the need for more local sports tournaments.
