THE 6th Iloilo Bike Festival on May 5, 2019 is seen to attract at least 1,000 bikers around the country who will converge at Casa Emperador in Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
This year’s edition will feature a series of biking events around the major streets. The highlight of the event is the Grand Fun Ride, a 15-kilometer bike ride that starts at 5:30 p.m.
According to Iloilo City Sports Division officer-in-charge Moises Salomon Jr. the route starts from Megaworld going to Plaza Jaro; Luna, La Paz; Arroyo Fountain Area in City Proper; Iznart Street; J.M. Basa Street; Plaza Libertad; Muelle Loney; New Grandstand; and back to Arroyo Fountain, General Luna.
“All bikers will use the bike lanes. The last part will end at Diversion Road up to Megaworld. Thank you to Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III for making this event bigger this year. We want to showcase the Ilonggo way of hosting this sports events,” Salomon said.
Aside from the Grand Fun Ride, other side events include BMX 4 cross competition, pump truck competition, fixie bike, BMX bike street competition, and bike expo on May 1-5.
To recall, the city was recognized as a bike-friendly city during the Phil Bike Awards 2018 at World Trade Center Manila.
