MY beloved high school alma mater, the St. Pius X Seminary in the picturesque Pinesville of Roxas City, Capiz celebrated its 60th foundation day on August 19-21, 2017, the feast day of St. Pius X.
Making the celebration remarkable was the annual alumni homecoming of Pians which was attended by my former batch mates, laymen, and priests from all over the country and world.
Highlighting the celebration were the series of activities such as the sports fest, pine tree planting, Pian memorabilia exhibit and the grand launch of St. Pius X Seminary Coffee table book during the fellowship night.
A spectacular retro-themed musical show performed by seminarians and the fireworks display added pomp and pageantry to the memorable celebration.
St. Pius X Seminary (SPX), which formally opened in 1957, was founded by the late Capiz Archbishop Antonio Frondosa.
Its seminary’s founding rector was the late Jaime Cardinal Sin.
SPX has produced four bishops – Most Rev. Warlito Cajandig of Mindoro, Most. Rev. Jose F. Advincula of Capiz, Most Rev. Jose Corazon T. Tala-oc of Aklan and my classmate, Most Rev. Victor B. Bendico of Baguio.
