Iloilo City’s First Lady is Management Woman of the Year

A DAUGHTER. A sister.  Devoted wife to Iloilo City Mayor Jose “Joe III” Espinosa.  Mother to four lovely young ladies.  A loving and doting aunt to nephews and nieces.  Gemologist.  Artist.  Businesswoman.  Philanthropist.  An advocate and friend of Ilonggo artists.

Now, a new title has been added to the name of Iloilo City First Lady Gina Sarabia Espinosa after she was hailed by the Philippine Council of Management (PHILCOMAN) as Management Woman for 2017.

The citation, a first in PHILCOMAN’s 63-year history highlighted the group’s 41st National Management Congress at Century Park Hotel-Manila.

“This is an honor for PHILCOMAN. Our first ever management woman,” said Dr. Emmanuel “Noli” Santos, PHILCOMAN president emeritus in his inspirational message.

Iloilo City’s First Lady received the distinctions as the council’s first-ever “Management Woman of the Year” because of her successful management of Sarabia Jewelry aside from her passion for art and public service.

In accepting the honor, the First Lady gave a touching tribute to her parents, Dr. Salvador “Badong” and Amparo Sarabia.

“To them I owe everything that has made me the management person that I am,” she said.  “I credit them both for the business sense and discipline in me.  Be a good member of society, my father would always remind us.”

Known to be a very private person and always to be “behind-the scene,” the First Lady was most gracious in her acceptance speech. What made the moment more special was the presence of her husband, Iloilo City Mayor Jose “Joe III” Espinosa and their daughters Patricia, Bea and Isabel.

PHILCOMAN is a non-profit, non-political federation of professional and technological societies, management developments, institutions, academe, business enterprises and professional managers. The council is dedicated to the development and innovation of management practices of all aspects of Philippine Society.

It was founded in 1954 by 10 associations and organized groups under the inspirational guidance of Dr. Lilian M. Gildreth and co-founded by Frederick W. Taylor of the Scientific School of Management in the United States.

The theme of this year’s management congress is “PHILCOMAN Responding to the Challenges: Ethical Management and Leadership.”

Also present in the gather were PHILCOMAN Research Institute’s top officials, Dr. Santos, Dr. Nerza Rebustes, Dr. Benjamin Sy Santos. The three are all presidents emeritus and fellow advisers of Dr. Tim Acedo, PhD, MBA, CPA.

Other PHILCOMAN officers present were Dr. Emily Noserale PhD, DTM; Dr. Aldwin Sanchez, PhD; Professor Bernard Karganilla, Dr. Ma. Gina Gagarin, PhD; Dr. Lope Santos III, PhD; Dr. Rogelio Asignado, PhD; Dr. Lorecelle Ibanez, PhD; Jennifer Legaria and Renato Guiang.

The First Lady was joined by Assistant Secretary Abdulgani Macatoman of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as “Management Man of the Year.”

Meanwhile, the Management Company of the Year is BENSAN, the company behind the “Zero Waste” used/waste oil re-refining technology.

Mickey Mouse Christmas Cheers @ SM CITY ILOILO

COSMO Iloilo’s ultimate shopping and lifestyle haven, SM City Iloilo, recently unveiled their Mickey Mouse-themed Giant Christmas Tree in a fulfilled and joyous event, dahlings!

Songs and dances by performers clad in Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes provided fun for the kids through a production directed by the talented Kevin Piamonte.

Leading the ceremonial switch-on ceremony was Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III, SM Regional Operations Manager Visayas 3 Girlie Liboon and Mall Manager Gilbert Domingo.

“In the spirit of Christmas sharing, Mickey Mouse stuff toys on display are for sale. Proceeds of the sale will be shared with indigent children around the community,” said Mall Manager Gilbert Domingo.
