These two lovebirds’ 8-year relationship sparkled during their high school days when they were introduced to each other by a common good friend.

Ria Mae Carbon Uy was attending the daily morning mass at Assumption Chapel when she first laid her eyes on Carlo Porras Salazar who was an altar boy of St. Vincent Seminary.

“It was not possible to be together during our high school and college days because of many hindrances, but with the help of social media, Carl was able to reach out to me,” Ria Mae said.

Fast forward to the future, Carl and Ria Mae endured a long distance relationship after college.

Ria worked for Emirates Airlines while Carl is a nurse in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

“We fell in love and within our eight years we have survived the seriousness of our profession with several long distance arrangements, and the many rigors of life that have been thrust upon us,” mused Carlo.

With full confidence and trust in each other, things went perfect between them until they decided to tie the proverbial knot of love.

Carlo Salazar and Ria Mae Uy’s wedding was everything the couple dreamed of.

It was celebrated by Fr. Fortunato Abiera at the picturesque St. Clement’s Church, followed by a beautiful reception at the renowned Iloilo Convention Center.

The blushing bride wore a gorgeous Veluz Reyes-Puno gown while the entourage looked lovely in DJohn Clements’ ensemble.

The Groom, on other hand, was every bit of a dapper gentleman in a dashing suit, dahlings.

The high point of the lovely celebration happened as the happy couple’s friends and family and well-wishers from all over the world shared their special day.

“Carl and I wanted a classic, simple yet elegant, travel-themed wedding with yellow sea foam green motif, and fresh white and yellow flowers. Our wedding cake was 8 layers to signify luck,” the very inspired Ria Mae quipped.

Carlo Porras Salazar is the son of Carlos Angel and Grace Salazar and a great grandson of the former Governor of Antique, Angel Salazar.

Ria Mae is the daughter of Engr. Ricardo Uy and Carmel Chuchi Carbon-Uy.
