Russia takes revenge on the United Kingdom by banning the entry of seven British nationals
Russia on Friday announced a ban on entry of seven British nationals into the country in retaliation for similar measures taken by the United Kingdom after main Russian rival Alexei Navalny was poisoned.
In August, the British Foreign Office barred entry to seven senior Russian security services officials for their alleged role in the poisoning of Alexei Navalny in the summer of 2020 and froze their assets on its territory.
“In response to London’s unfriendly actions, and on the principle of reciprocity, it was decided to impose individual sanctions against an equal number of British representatives involved in anti-Russian activities,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday. ,
“They were barred from entering the territory of the Russian Federation,” said the ministry, which accused London of being determined to continue the “disastrous policy” of bilateral relations.
Relations between Russia and the United Kingdom have seen many disagreements over the past 15 years, from the Skripal case, from former spy Alexander Litvinenko’s polonium-210 poisoning in the United Kingdom in 2006, as well as several disputes in diplomatic files in Syria. and Ukraine.
