“It’s time to come back home and celebrate the holidays with nobody else but the family”
Ms. Cleofe Albiso, General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo, starts the holidays in the hotel with the message to be with our loved ones this season – the people who matter to us the most!
For the first time in history, Western Visayas’ first international hotel opens the holiday festivities with a grand Christmas Lighting ceremony held at the lobby of Courtyard by Marriott. Looking around, one will see the lobby dressed up in colors of gold, copper and crimson red, adorned with world globes, compasses and vintage bags, all depicting a beautiful story of a journey traveling back home.
Located in the old Iloilo airport, Courtyard gives tribute to one of Iloilo’s historical sites where families used to reunite. With a replica of the old control tower at 13 feet, a gingerbread plane with a wing span of 15 feet and Christmas trees of different sizes, one would feel the warmth and joy of celebrating the holidays with loved ones.
Upon arrival of guests, cocktails were served and serenaded by Glynis and Anton, acoustic duos coming all the way from Cebu, with your favourite carols in perfect blending. Starting the show were the ballet dancers of the SF School of dance performing an excerpt from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. After the musical interlude Sales Manager, Ms. Gail Bangeles, host of the event, welcomed everyone with much effervescence and a quick selfie to capture the moment. Director of Operations, Ms. Maia Israel then shared with everyone the exciting promotions waiting for all guests and visitors at the Courtyard. The values of gratitude and of being with family were then highlighted in the welcome speech of the General Manager, Ms. Cleofe Albiso.
The night’s highlight was made more meaningful and sentimental through the virtuous vocals of the Sta. Maria Parish Grand Choir singing “Christmas is Calling You Home” and an Ilonggo original, “Suga Sang Kalinong” composed by Mr. Beny Castillon, the choir’s trainer and conductor with Mr. Gerardo Muyuela, its musical director. With songs sang from the heart andvoices blending, the Tower, gingerbread plane, and the tree lights up,leaving all guests at the lobby in awe. Pulling the lever which lit up the tree, were hotel executives namely Human Resources Manager, Frances Carmen Siongco, Dir. Of Operations, Maia Israel, General Manager, CleofeAlbiso, Dir. Of Sales, Joy Alonte, and Asst. Dir. Of Finance, Marlon Galotogether with the special guest, Iloilo City Mayor, Mayor Joe Espinosa and Atty. Suzette Mamon. Making the moment more memorable, the choir continued to sing carols reminiscent of Ilonggo classics and carols that made the evening more magical.
