PRESIDENTIAL Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar shared that to date, there are already six (6) confirmed regions set to host their respective media summits within the year.
In a phone patch interview on Aksyon Radyo-Iloilo today, the PCOO Chief relayed that media organizations from Regions 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, and NCR are ready to conduct media summits in their localities with the assistance of PCOO.
He noted, “We have 17 regions so basically, all 17 regions will have its own regional media summit. But for sure, meron na tayo dun sa six regions pero wala pa lang petsa… Ito’y pag-uusapan pa lamang sa iba’t ibang regions but so far, I have visited about 30 provinces this year alone at kausap ko ang iba’t ibang media orgs.”
As to the expected dates of the summits, he further clarified, “Ang private media ang magsasabi, hindi ako. Ito ay sinuggest ko sa private media kasi alam mo namang hindi pwedeng makialam ang gobyerno sa activities ng private media kasi we have freedom of the press. At alam mo naman ang private media is an unregulated industry.”
Sec. Andanar, however, assured that PCOO will completely support the regional media summits and eventually, the national media summit.
The Communications Secretary has earlier shared that the series of regional media summits will kick off in Tacloban City.
