BACOLOD City – The United Negros Alliance (UNegA) is “committed” to support the tandem of Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson for governor and former Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer for vice governor in the 2019 local elections, Senior Board Member Salvador Escalante said.
As for the local positions, Escalante said that the declaration of “free zones” would be “a case to case basis.”
“Incumbent officials will be supported by UNegA. We will field mayoralty candidates on local government units occupied by UNegA,” Escalante said.
He added that “except for a couple of local government units (LGUs) that already made their declarations or intentions to run prior to the merger talk.”
However, he said that the case of Himamaylan City where a clash between candidates of Love Negros and UNegA “is inevitable.”
He said that they will present their official candidates to be led by Ferrer during the joint presentation a week before the start of the filing of candidacies on October 11.
The party led by outgoing Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr, currently has incumbent mayors in Toboso, Salvador Benedicto, Sagay City, Cadiz City, Manapla, Bago City, San Enrique, La Carlota City, La Castellana, Isabela, Pontevedra, Binalbagan, Candoni, and Hinobaan.
