BACOLOD City – The town of Moises Padilla and La Carlota City will not join the 2017 Panaad sa Negros Festival on Apr 22-30, according to Negros Occidental Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Ma. Lina Sanogal.
In a media briefing afternoon of Apr 20, Sanogal said Moises Padilla town officials did not disclose the reason why they will not join the celebration.
Sanogal also said that they did not receive any official letter but the town’s representatives said they will not open their pavilion nor participate in any competition.
“It’s hard to speculate as to their reason,” she added.
This is the first time Moises Padilla has refused to join the festivities, but Sanogal said the town officials, especially Mayor Magdaleno Peña, should reconsider their decision.
“Moises Padilla is currently one of the poorest local government units in the province, and they really need the exposure. The festival is really for the Negrosanons,” she said.
Peña, meanwhile, said he has no further comments as to their decision.
Aside from Moises Padilla, the city government of La Carlota also announced they will not participate in the activities as their Pasalamat festival coincided with Panaad festival.
But Sanogal said the city government will still open their pavilion to tourists.
