BACOLOD City – The newly assumed provincial director in Negros Occidental vowed to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in the province.

Senior Supt. Romeo Baleros, the deputy regional director for intelligence in Region 6, switched post with Senior Supt. Rodolfo Castil effective Jan 7, 2019.

Baleros said he will be at the forefront of the campaign against illegal drugs,   criminality, and corruption.

He also said that he will spearhead legal offensives against illegal drugs traffickers and substance abusers, and their cohorts, under the demand and supply reduction concept of project “Double Barrel.”

Baleros also ordered all police personnel to do their share in raising the performance bar for the general accomplishments of Police Regional Office 6.

He warned of zero tolerance for policemen found directly or indirectly involved in illicit activities, and that the full force of the law will be imposed on them.

“I will not condone anyone who taints the good image of the PNP,” Baleros added.

Baleros said that he will also apply the reward and punishment system.

“Those who excel in their performance will be awarded and given proper recognition, while personnel involved in irregularities, and use their positions for personal gains will be investigated, and sanctions will be imposed against them if found guilty.”

Baleros also said that he will monitor all anti-drug operations to ensure the proper declaration of seized evidence to prevent police personnel from recycling illegal drugs to the streets.

He added that there will be no bungling of cases in court due to non-appearance of prosecution witnesses, especially in drug-related cases.
