BACOLOD City – Task Force Botagoy is out to stop the proliferation of hot meat here.
Task Force Botagoy is a special body created by the city government specifically to stop the distribution and sale of hot meat in the public markets in the city.
Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda, cluster head on markets, said TF Botagoy seized more or less 65 kilos of “hot meat” worth P15,600 in Purok Gracia, Barangay Singcang-Airport here at around 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
Pineda said the task force intercepted a tricycle loaded with “hot meat”. It was driven by Resty Navarro, 20, of Brgy. Alijis, who failed to present a meat inspection certificate.
Navarro was on his way to deliver the meat to customers when it was seized by the task force for failure to undergo inspection at the Bacolod City Slaughterhouse, which is a violation of City Ordinance 459.
Pineda told reporters that the confiscated “hot meat” was burned and buried at the slaughterhouse compound in Brgy. Handumanan.
The task force headed by Rex Juplo is intensifying its operations against illegal vendors who refuse to avail of the services of the city slaughterhouse, he added.
Pineda urged meat vendors to use the slaughterhouse and to voluntarily surrender spoiled meat.
“They will arrest those engaged in illegal slaughtering to protect the health of the public,” he stressed.
