BACOLOD City – Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor said on Dec. 4, 2018 that Isabela town is set to host the table tennis national tournament on Dec. 7-9, 2018.
Dubbed as the 1st Mayor Joselito Malabor Super League Table Tennis Tournament, the sports event is set to gather more than 300 table tennis players from all over the country together with their coaches and team members.
Malabor said the table tennis equipment shipped from Manila, was brought to the town’s socio-cultural center.
Earlier, Malabor met with Darwin Uy, president of Huang Wen Wei Table Tennis Club Isabela, who is coordinating with the Philippine Table Tennis Federation for the holding of the said event.
“It will be the first time for Isabela to host such a national tournament,” Malabor said.
He added that the public schools in the locality will serve as billeting areas of the players.
Malabor said that, “The socio-cultural center is an ideal venue for the sports event as it is not air-conditioned and the athlete can sweat it out unlike in other venues in Metro Manila.”
He said that this is the reason why organizers chose Isabela as a host.
Malabor said that there are also pension houses and billeting areas for other delegates in the town.
He added that the sports event is for ranking purposes and those who will win will be part of the Philippine Team that will be representing the country in international table tennis tournament.
Malabor said that the event is geared to encourage the youth to indulge in sports and not in drugs as well as too much time spent with gadgets.
