Suspected robber dies in police shootout

BACOLOD City – A suspected robber was killed while his accomplice escaped after trading shots with members of Police Station 2 (PS2) at Burgos Extension, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, late night of Oct 8, 2018.

Police identified the fatality as Juniben Fulgo, a resident of the city, while his accomplice was named as Jan-jan Beatingo, also a resident of the city.

PS2 commander, Sr. Insp. Leo Estopa, said prior to the shootings, the suspects allegedly victimized April Rose Miranda and Nelche Grace Gallaza on 10th Lacson Street.

Both Fulgo and Beatingo carted away one of the victim’s bag, which contains money and valuables.

The suspects then boarded their motorcycle and fled, while Miranda and Gallaza immediately went to PS2 to report the incident. They positively identified the suspects through the station’s “rogues’ gallery.”

Estopa immediately ordered a follow-up operation and they were able to track down the suspects to Barangay Villamonte.

When the cops flagged down the suspects, Beatingo allegedly fought back, prompting the cops to return fire.

During the gun battle, the cops hit Fulgo’s body while Beatingo sped away.

Fulgo was immediately rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but passed away yesterday morning.

In a radio interview following the incident, Beatingo’s live-in partner, appealed to the suspect to surrender.
