BACOLOD City- All roads lead to the Panaad Park and Stadium as the annual summer festival of Negros Occidental opens its silver curtains today, April 14, to celebrate the province-wide arts and culture conclave started in 1993 at the Capitol Lagoon grounds.
Eric Loretizo, media consultant of Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said that “As we moved around early today, Friday, everyone is preoccupied doing the finishing touches. ”
“Advertising merchandise are sprouting likes mushrooms, ambulant vendors are all over the place, the underground economy is apparently vibrant as LGUs try to also beat efforts to beautify their pavilions, while gardeners from Negros Island Region and places as far as Davao, Cagayan de Oro, GenSan and Iloilo began laying out as many colorful varieties of endemic and exotic flora, grafted and marcotted fruit trees, orchids and a wide range of collectible items,” he added.
Loretizo said the Eco-Garden Show of the Silver Panaad is now in a new site fronting the Escalante City Pavilion.
Earlier, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) headed by Senior Supt. Rodolfo Castilappealed for the cooperation of the public to ensure peace and order during the weeklong event.
