BACOLOD City – President Rodrigo Duterte said he is not interested in staying in power.
Duterte was in Bacolod City Thursday night for the PDP-Laban rally and Grupo Progreso rally.
“My only concern at the moment is the nation. I am not up for re-election and I do not have the slightest intention of overstaying in power,” Duterte added.
He also said that he will not allow his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, to run for President in 2022.
He further said that he will immediately return home to Davao City after his term.
In a speech that lasted for more than two hours, he also told voters that if corruption in the government is not ended, the country will not prosper.
The president also endorsed the candidates of PDP-Laban: Bong Go , Ronald de la Rosa, Francis Tolentino, Koko Pimentel and Zajid Mangudadato who was represented by his brother Toto.
Also at the rally were PDP Laban guest candidates Imee Marcos and Rafael Alunan.
The rally held at the football field near the Bacolod Government Center was hosted by Grupo Progreso under re-electionist Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
