BACOLOD City – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-6 will hold the last leg of its Campus Journalism Seminar-Workshop series in 2017 starting Sept 13-15 at the Sugarland Hotel here.
In a press statement, PIA-6 said more or less 200 junior and senior high school students and some school paper advisers are expected to attend the yearly journalism training.
The 3-day training aims to impart the concept of development-oriented journalism so student writers can apply the concept in their articles; hone basic writing, reporting and editorial management skills; articulate the principles of convergence journalism and on-line journalism and apply these in packaging news and information as effectively and as efficiently as possible; and incorporate ASEAN messages in their news and opinion articles.
Among the topics included in the module are lectures on news, feature, sports, column and editorial, and journalistic writing in Filipino; online journalism and online newsletter production on the second day with photojournalism; while the copy reading/headlining with page design will be tackled on the last day.
Each lecture will have writing outputs where most promising and promising writers among the workshop participants are determined.
The last three legs of the series were held in Iloilo City, one for college student-writers from all over Western Visayas and two for high school students in Panay.
