BACOLOD City – The municipality of Cauayan, Negros Occidental will conduct a bidding next month for the construction of its new public market with an estimated cost of P97 million.
Cauayan Mayor John Rey Tabujara said P67 million will be loaned from a government bank while P30 million will come from local sources.
Tabujara said the bidding for the new market will be held “tentatively” on Oct. 14 or 15, 2018 but this will only happen if the Monetary Board will issue an opinion regarding its loan application with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Tabujara hopes that by Sept. 13, they can already seek opinion from the Monetary Board as a part of the loan requirement.
The project will be constructed on a lot before the bridge of Poblacion village.
The new public market will only have a ground floor, Tabujara added.
The wet market, on the other hand, will be separately constructed as well as the “bagsakan” area.
Tabujara said the old public market would be renovated after an investor expressed interest to rent the edifice.
