BACOLOD City – National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bacolod head Ferdinand Lavin warns the public against dealing with persons claiming to be confidential agents of his office in the province.

Lavin made the warning as he confirmed that since January, 2012, the Department of Justice cancelled all authorizations and certification for confidential agents all over the country. He said Justice Secretary Leila De Lima has issued a statement that such authority to hire confidential agents would be given to the director of the NBI.

The President has not appointed yet a full-fledged NBI director after the term of former director Magtanggol Gatdula.

Lavin made the clarification amidst reports on confidential agents going around the province claiming to be confidential agents of the NBI.

“If you have some concerns that needs to be acted by your NBI, you should direct to our office,” Lavin said.
