BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon yesterday called for an investigation on the reported manhandling incident in the National Bureau of Investigation.

Marañon wanted to know if indeed agent in-charge Jose Hermie Monsanto hit a volunteer in said office.

The victim identified as Daryl Cadagat is a nephew of former Negros Press Club president and TDG columnist Edgar Cadagat.

Cadagat, a volunteer who works at the Bacolod NBI office as part of the group operating the computers that issue clearances, said he was hit several times in the nape and shoulders by Monsanto.

Edgar said his nephew was at a loss for words to describe why Monsanto did it.

He said he will report the matter to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima after having the incident recorded in the police blotter.

Monsanto denied the allegation of Cadagat daring the latter to file a case against him.

He said he just told Cadagat not to report to the NBI office because of “fixing” issues.
