BACOLOD City –Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and construction company owners to improve safety measures at all construction sites after a vehicle plunged into a hole on Lacson Street.

Gasataya issued the call through his Facebook page after a vehicle plunged into a drainage project Monday evening.

He said already called the attention of the DPWH even before the accident took place.

The congressman added that he already asked Assistant District Engineer Leah Jamero to look into the incident, particularly the compliance of the contractor to safety measures.

Gasataya also reported that the excavation where the vehicle plunged into was already covered a day after the incident as the culverts connecting to the junction of BS Aquino Drive had already been completed.

The contractor also temporarily covered the unfinished parts.

Gasataya said DPWH must compel all contractors working on active projects to install safety barriers, sufficient lighting, and traffic signs that are visible at night.
