Ex-mayor denies attempting to gate crash PDP-Laban rally

BACOLOD City – Former Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella on Mar 13,2019 denied allegations by former councilor Bobby Rojas that he attempted to gate crash the campaign rally of PDP-Laban party at the Victorias City Coliseum last week.

In a press conference, Puentevella said he was playing tennis in Bacolod City during the rally. He also said he never received any invitation from PDP-Laban or the Office of the President to join them in Victorias.

“I will not go unless I was invited,” Puentevella said. “When I go to Malacañang I make sure that my name is there.”

Puentevella also pointed out that he is a member of the LAKAS-CMD for nine years.

Earlier, Rojas said he was asked by Office of the President personnel if the former mayor had arrived at the rally.

When Rojas asked why they were inquiring about the matter, he claimed that they were instructed not to allow Puentevella in the rally.

Rojas also noted that while having lunch with Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III, he was informed that someone was banned from entering the coliseum.

The former councilor believes that the allegedly tampered video posted on social media suggesting President Rodrigo Duterte was upset with Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia may be the reason for the former mayor’s exclusion from the event.
