Election joint security councils activated today

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City and Negros Occidental Joint Security Councils (JSC) are set to be activated today, Jan. 11, 2019, in preparation for the midterm elections in May.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Bacolod supervisor Mavil Majarucon-Sia said JSC representatives from the PNP, AFP, and the Comelec will meet to assess security concerns for the election period.

Sia said a unity walk is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Bacolod Public Plaza, and local candidates will be asked to sign a peace covenant.

She added the said event will be led by the Bacolod City Police Office and is fully supported by the Comelec.
