BACOLOD City – The cluster head of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) here will convene the El Niño Task Force this week after Mayor Evelio Leonardia signed the Executive Order creating the task force.
Leonardia signed Executive Order No. 09 creating the Bacolod City El Niño Task Force, according to executive assistant and DRRMO chief Jose Maria Vargas.
Vargas said the task force was created to mitigate the possible effects of the El Niño phenomenon and to make plans and recommendations to the mayor for whatever projects they may implement.
The Task Force is composed of representatives from the City Agriculture Office, Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Health Office, DRMMO, Bacolod City Water District, and Central Negros Electric Cooperative.
Vargas said Leonardia chairs the task force.
He added that their first concern is water supply, so he will give Baciwa an update about El Niño.
Baciwa will also brief them on its initial plan that will be evaluated before it is presented during the meeting of the task force this week.
