THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bacolod conducted a two-day orientation-training for Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) on barangay drug-clearing program, at Middle Town Inn in Bacolod on Nov. 7-8, 2018.

The 61 barangays of Bacolod were divided into two days –30 barangays on the first day and 31, the next day.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who also chairs the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), addressed the participants.

Leonardia said that barangay officials have a big role in determining the kind of barangays their local government units (LGUs) turn out to be, thus they have a big responsibility to make it drug-free.

He challenged them to make their respective barangays free of drugs and make their constituents responsible and productive citizens.

DILG-Bacolod Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag said they are hoping that after the orientation-training, barangay officials will be more capacitated and dedicated in fighting illegal drugs. (City PIO)
