BACOLOD City – S/Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, city police director said the buy bust operation which resulted to the arrest of a suspected drug lord was legitimate.
“I believe we have a strong case against Angelo Bongco” de la Paz told The Daily Guardian in reaction to the statements issued by Bongco’s older brother, Eduardo who together with their father, Eduardo Sr. held a press conference at the Negros Press Club here.
Angelo was arrested by police operatives here in a buy bust operation at Palmas del Mar leading to the seizure of 717 ecstasy tablets worth more than P1 million.
De la Paz said the Bongcos’ claims that the ecstasy tablets were planted are the usual line issued of arrested drug suspects.
He said he expected the issue to come up because “he is facing an un-bailable offense”.
Police expect the resolution of Bongco’s case to be released this week.
“Bongco was caught in possession of illegal drugs,” de la Paz said.
De la Paz cited Bongco’s affidavit where the latter claimed he is earning millions of pesos in his projects “which indicates that he is in the position to order millions worth of ecstasy.”
