Cop wounded in shooting

BACOLOD City – A police officer from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) was wounded after he was shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen at Phase 1, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Tuesday night.

The victim is Senior Police Officer 2 Carlos Alob, a resident of Rizal village and assigned to La Castellana Municipal Police Station.

Investigators from the San Carlos City Police Station, said that at around 7:40 p.m., Alob went out of their home to buy cigarettes from a nearby store.

When the victim returned, two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire, with the bullets hitting various parts of his body.

The victim, however, managed to run for cover inside their home, while the suspects fled.

Alob was rushed to the San Carlos City District Hospital for treatment, and was later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City after doctors stabilized his condition.

San Carlos police have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting.
