BACOLOD City – The supposed merger between the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) and the Love Negros (LN) team cannot stop families from clashing in two congressional districts.
In the third district, incumbent Board Member David Albert Lacson of UNegA will face his cousin Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano if he seeks reelection for the provincial board post.
If Lacson seeks to return as EB Magalona town mayor, he will run against his friend, incumbent Mayor Marvin Malacon.
But if Lacson decides to take over the post of outgoing third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez, he will face the latter’s brother, Dr. Francisco Benitez.
On the sidelines of the announcement of LN’s provincial lineup, Montelibano said he would support Malacon and the younger Benitez.
In the fifth district, the same political scenario is brewing.
LN has announced that it will support Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Bascon’s congressional ambition.
Bascon will face his first cousin, Board Member Alain Gatuslao.
Gatuslao is UNEgA’s bet for the congressional post
In Himamaylan City, Alain’s younger brother Justin is seeking the vice mayoralty seat against another cousin, Raymund Gatuslao.
