BACOLOD City – The city government here is celebrating the City Tourism Week with the theme “Tourism for Sustainable Development: Fusion of Cultures,” from Sept 11 to 15, 2017.
City Tourism Officer Ma. Elma Gerasmo said while the event is being celebrated annually to promote the tourism attractions of the city, this year’s theme highlights the fact that various Asian cultures are also found here.
Thus, the event will showcase specialty cuisines of several Asian countries such as Japanese, Korean, Vietname, Chinese and Thai in the Food Alley.
The five-day activities started Sept 11 with the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Tourism Exhibits at the Bacolod City Government Center Lobby, and opening of Food Alley at the Atrium.
Film showings will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Thursday, at the BCGC Lobby.
Cultural presentations featuring Asian cultures will also happen every afternoon.
On Friday, the culminating activities start at 5:30 p.m. which include Cosplay of Asian countries, parade of summer kimono, and music and folk dances of the Philippines, Vietnam, Japanese, Taiwan, and Indian. (PIO)
