Army shrugs off call to free ‘Mabinay 6’

BACOLOD City – The 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division under Brigadier General Dinoh Dolina ignored the call of Karapatan to free the so-called “Mabinay 6” which, according to them, are young peasant organizers of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP).

In a press statement, the 3ID said that “It can be remembered that six fully-armed CPP-NPA terrorists including two minors and Myles Albasin were apprehended in Mabinay, Negros Oriental last month.”

During the inventory of the confiscated firearms and explosives in the presence of the media, each of the arrested terrorists identified the firearm that belonged to them, the 3ID added. It so happened, that Albasin pointed out the firearm which was later claimed by a businessman from Sipalay City.

“We have established the affiliation of Mabinay 6 with the said terrorist organization and already filed criminal charges against them after our troops recovered high-powered firearms and explosives from their position.”

Since Karapatan insisted that the alleged terrorists are organizers of the KMP, it only affirmed their affiliation with the CPP-NPA, the 3ID explained.

“In this regard, this Command is calling on the people especially Negrenses to be wary of the aforementioned organization since Karapatan has confirmed their connection with the NPAs,” it added.

“We have already presented evidences that support criminal charges that were filed against them. Let the court decide and let justice be served to the helpless civilians who are victims of the CPP-NPA terrorists’ ruthlessness.”
