All set for Isabela town fiesta on April 21-27

BACOLOD City – Mayor Joselito Malabor of Isabela, Negros Occidental said on Feb.11, 2019 that all is set for the 2nd Ati- Bukidnon Tumandok Festival on April 21 to 27.

Before the fiesta, Malabor said a series of medical missions in 30 barangays are scheduled at the covered court of the town on Feb. 24, March 17 and April 9.

Malabor said this year’s fiesta will include sports events like the Super League Table Tennis national tournament as well as basketball and volleyball games.

A street dancing arena competition will highlight the indigenous people’s tribal dance and practices. Six high schools in the town will join the competition.

Malabor said the fiesta aims to give recognition to the indigenous communities in the town.

He said there are eight indigenous communities in the town and four more are being organized.

Malabor said 30 percent of the town’s residents are members of IPs.

Meanwhile Malabor said that the municipal government is also bracing for the Holy Week celebration next month and the Panaad festival in April.

He said they expect more pilgrims to go up the Holy Mountain where the 40 feet giant cross is situated.

Last year, about 50,000 pilgrims went up the Holy Mountain and expects the number to increase this year.

Malabor said a cleanup drive will be conducted in the area as well as in the natural trail used in going up the Holy Mountain.

As for the Panaad sa Negros festival in April, Malabor said the municipal government will participate in 6 events including the Festival of all Festivals to showcase the Tigkalalag festival.
