BACOLOD City – Seven more police officers in Negros Island Region (NIR) with alleged links to the illegal drug trade were ordered relieved by PNP Director General Ronald de la Rosa.
Chief Inspector Dianne Catedral, Police Regional Office (PRO-18) spokesperson, confirmed the information on Feb. 7, 2017.
Catedral said the seven officers are among the 15 cops named by top suspected drug personality Ricky Serenio.
In Special Orders No. 870, De la Rosa ordered the relief of Senior Inspector Ser Uldrick Ebdane Gelera, SPO1 Noel Satuya, SPO1 May Amar Lumawag, SPO3 Rey Concepcion Villanueva, PO3 Dareen Ann Torres, PO3 Tony Dela Cruz Hechanova and PO3 Gilbert Fidel Alunan.
Cathedral said the seven are reassigned to the Personnel Holding Accounting Unit of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management in Camp Crame.
The latest set of officers brings to 41 the total number of policemen relieved from NIR for alleged links to the illegal drug trade.
Last Jan. 18, six policemen were also relieved from their posts for the same grounds.
In Jan 10, 2017, Chief Insps. Argel Ancheta, Jerick Filosopo, and Jeffrey Attunaga and PO3 Mewyn Oñas were also sacked.
