200 Bacolod vendors get P2-M livelihood aid

BACOLOD City – A total of 200 vendors from various public markets here received P10,000-livelihood assistance each, or a total of P2 million, at the Bacolod City Government Center on Aug. 7, 2017.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the distribution rites and was assisted by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Councilors Caesar Distrito, Em Ang, and Bartolome Orola.

Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) head Pacita Tero said the livelihood assistance is under the Sustainable Livelihood Program funded by the Bottom-up Budgeting of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

It is in the form of a loan payable in three months, she added.

Tero said the financial support is intended to empower the market vendors by providing them a cooperative loans system.

The DSSD conducts a monthly monitor of the vendors’ livelihood project, she said. (PIO)
