“We’re with Ferj Biron.”
Mayor Oscar Garin of Guimbal, Iloilo announced Saturday evening the decision of their family to support the candidacy of Iloilo fourth district Rep. Ferjenel Biron for governor in May 2019.
The announcement was made during the mass oath-taking of Nacionalista Party members in Iloilo and Antique at the Iloilo Convention Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Garin said it pains him to favor Biron over Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr., whose son third district Rep. Arthur Defensor Jr. is also eyeing the governorship, as he considers both political titans as friends.
The former congressman-turned-mayor said his family reached several concessions with Biron relative to the May 2019 elections:
-a Garin will run for vice-governor in tandem with Biron;
-Biron will support in official and personal capacities the municipal candidates of the Garins;
-Biron will support AAMBIS-OWA party-list of the Garin clan. The first nominee will be incumbent Vice Gov. Christine Garin who will not seek re-election, while the second nominee is former fourth district congressman Hernan “Jun” Biron Jr.
Biron welcomed the alliance with the Garins saying it will boost his candidacy which already has the support of Reps. Arcadio Gorriceta of the second district and Raul Tupas of the fifth district.
