‘Wanted wife’ of NBP inmate nabbed

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The wife of an inmate of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was arrested for alleged illegal drug peddling on Jan. 30, 2017 here.

Regional Trial Court Branch 18 Judge Ignacio I. Alajar issued Valencia’s arrest warrant on Jan. 27 for illegal drug charges docketed as Criminal Case Nos. C-50-17, C-51-17 and C-52-17.

The court recommended a total of P240,000 bail for Valencia’s temporary liberty.

Valencia was frist arrested by police afternoon of Dec. 8, 2016 at the Philippines Railway street here and was charged on Dec. 13 for possessing six sachets of suspected shabu.

Charges for violations of Sections 5 (illegal selling), 11 (illegal possession of illegal drugs), and 12 (illegal drug paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) were filed against her before the Roxas City Prosecutor’s Office.

Valencia was collared in a buy-bust operation at her house while the city was celebrating its religious fiesta.

The operation was jointly conducted by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Capiz) and Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSOTG) of Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

Cops also seized from Valencia the P300 marked money, a disposable lighter and aluminum foil.

According to Insp. Pedro Celino, CIDG-Capiz deputy chief, the suspect is the wife of a drug pusher who is incarcerated for illegal drug trade at the NBP in Muntinlupa City.

Celino said Valencia sold shabu not only here but in nearby towns of Capiz.

He said her two daughters were also detained at Capiz Rehabilitation Center in Brgy. Lawaan here for the same drug offenses.
